Yesterday, as part of our regular exchange with our neighbours (“Klönschnack”), we also had our first exchange with the regional pilots. With around 300 members, the Elbe Pilot Brotherhood is one of the largest and oldest pilot associations in the world. With three pilot stations staffed around the clock in the region, they are there where shipping needs them - in wind and weather, they take over pilotage duties on the Lower Elbe and thus also in the area of our terminal. As Elbe pilots, they are experienced mariners with the highest nautical license. They are already starting to think about how to guide the LNG tankers skilfully and safely to our jetty. The colleagues will expand and train their knowledge in regular assignments on the ship simulator.
